My bike that was locked up on the bike rack in front of the the main LAPD building was stolen. They snipped the lock and took it - right in front of the police department. You’re not naive- you have trust. It’s a good and bad thing. Now go get your finger healed please.
It really makes you feel somehow retarded when you go pick up your bike in the morning, even unlocking it and notice both your tires are missing. fuckers couldnt bother taking the WHOLE bike.
It's like a mini biography told via the pianos that have punctuated your life. Love that. It's endearing that you don't lock your door; I have a sister like that (Terry). I am grateful that no harm has befallen you (or her) as a result. But the longer we go on, the odds are never in our favor. Please lock your door, friend. The world needs its Roddys. Now more than evah.
I shattered my ring finger on one of those old glass door knobs (on my bedroom door). It was the WORST! I definitely couldn't have covered it with just a band-aid, but when I went to urgent care I couldn't get stiches or steri-strips or anything because of how mangled it was. It was one of those things that had me in awe throughout the next couple of months, because my body, which I definitely do take for granted, healed it up tremendously! Like a starfish repairing his leg or a lobster rebuilding her claw! It was beautiful seeing my skin heal each day and now my finger is back to normal, with a scar and no door on my bedroom as a gentle reminder. ;) Your finger should heal soon! Please just keep doing what you're doing, keeping it clean and bandaged because you are a piano player and need ALL of your fingers, way more than I need mine. :D Take care. p.s. I don't think you are naïve, I think you just choose to trust people. I also think it means you might be a good person, because you would never steal someone's bike or break into someone's house and you expect the same level of respect from others! Just a thought. xox sarah
You're never too old, it's never too late - It's a piece of graffiti I saw in NYC last time I was there. Just write what is in you mate, and don't ever doubt it. If you feel it, others are feeling it too. A broken key or a broken finger - I've found my best work comes from an obstacle. Hey, I got a book out of it. Can't wait to see your musical mate.
Be broken, be scared, be emboldened just write the fucking musical! It’s calling you to bring it into being. Hence the piano you should have bought years ago. You know this is true. Trust the process.

Sent too soon ;) I'M WITH YOU, I think we all are. Love you RB
And somehow we wake up and -if we're lucky- we take a deep break and live to fight another day!!! Maybe it's a day or a month or a season??
Fingers crossed to many many seasons. x

Living for this refreshingly brutal honesty.

I’m worried about the finger too!
I’m nervous about the finger.
Also the piano is so handsome.
